Some Quebec signs

This photo is from a street corner in Montreal. The "children" sign is like many in the USA. Unlike other "children" signs in Canada, this sign shows a detailed silhouette of a figure in a child's proportions -- see later examples in this series. The octagonal shape of the stop sign is universally recognizable, even with wording only in French. The graphic "4-way stop" sign is unlike the text signs used in the USA. "MAXIMUM" shows a frequent tendency in Quebec signs -- avoiding repetition by using a word that is the same in both French and English. Canada has adopted standard international units of measurement. "30" is kilometers per hour, or about 18 miles per hour in this residential area as also is usual in Europe.
