The proposal for most of the project is for a two-lane, 28-foot-wide roadway (wider than the 22 feet in the more recent South Brookline proposal) with a landscaped median and a 12-foot wide service road carrying bicycle, pedestrian and motor traffic. Though the motor traffic is not shown in this cross section drawing, the mountable curbs, adjacent to landscaping, imply the obvious: a vehicle will have to drive up onto the grass in order to pass another. In winter, the path will be lined with snowbanks, so this will no longer be possible.
