Lincoln Street at Cambridge Street, August 4, 2010. New traffic signal actuators have just been installed -- old-fashioned dipole loops that don't sense bicycles reliably, visible under the cars at the left. Drivers in the right lane could always find gaps in the traffic to turn right on red, thanks to the traffic light on Cambridge Street at North Harvard Street, one block to the left, but would be unable to cross legally to the underpass in the background unless a vehicle pulled up in the left lane to trigger a traffic signal.
