Looking east across New Chardon Street, with Cambridge Street in the background, August 8, 2008. Traffic-signal actuator loops have been newly installed, and they are of a type that can sense bicycles. That's good, but there are quality-control issues. The bicycle symbol in the foreground is supposed to indicate where bicyclists are to wait in order to trigger the signal, however, the symbol is not directly over one of the wires. I have not yet tested whether detection is achieved here.
