Sidepath section
This northernmost section of the trail in 2006 was a spur on a sidepath that ran around the periphery of a gated community. The photo illustrates one of the issues with sidepaths, the inability to merge before turning. The bicyclist would have to look behind himself for the turning van and vice versa if the van driver was already waiting for other traffic (such as, for example, me). Also note the pedestrian lane at the right, with the corresponding bollards defining three lanes in the background. The arrows and lines under the black paint suggest that the pedestrian lane has been switched from the left side to the right side of the trail.
