Toole showed some examples of bke lanes which required turning motorists to yield to through-traveling bicyclists. This one is from Portland, Oregon. Generally, her presentation recognized that motorists could merge across a bike lane, but avoided examples in which bicyclists would be merging. In this example, standard rules of the road would have the bicyclists merge into or across the path of the motorists before turning left, or else would have the motorists merge right across the path of the bicyclists before the intersection.
