The filename Sheldon gave this photo identifies it as taken in September, 1971. He has gone over to drop handlebars, probably cannibalized from his 1960s Moulton Deluxe -- the accessories are the same. Note also the replacement cottered cranks with the 72T chainring. There are five cables in all -- a shift lever is on the handlebar stem. Two derailleurs, a 5-speed hub and brakes would require one more cable. No front derailleur is visible. The fenders seen in the photo are still in Sheldon's parts trove as of May, 2009. Photographer unknown; photo probably taken for Sheldon -- or possibly using a self-timer, though that would be difficult to pull off.
