Two-way travel
We look at the other side of the same sign. Two-way bicycle travel on the sidewalk is intended here, as is clear from the sign oriented for left-side travel. Left-side travel is especially hazardous because motorists entering from side streets are looking left for traffic. A left-side bicyclist also is facing the bright side of motor-vehicle headlamp beams at night, and may have no choice but to jump the curb into oncoming motor traffic when faced with an oncoming bicyclist who is keeping left. National guidelines require separation or a barrier between a bicycle path and a street to avoid these issues. Also note that the path narrows into a conventional sidewalk after the intersection.
