Chevrons and dashes

The shared-lane marking, seen elsewhere in this project, is on its way to approval by the Federal Highway Administration. The marking seen here at Lafayette Street combines the chevrons from the shared-lane marking with a bike lane dashed through the intersection, and is not standardized. Note the no-parking zone in the background. This is intended to avoid confustion by drivers who think that the line of parked vehicles away from the cdurb is a line of moving traffic.
