17th Street
Now we look south, continuing our trip down the Greenway. This intersection with a one-way exit roadway is signalized. A walkway adjacent to the bikeway begins after the intersection. This is likely where a drunk driver turned onto the bikeway instead of 11th Avenue in December, 2005, knocking down a flex post. He drove over a mile along what to a sober person was obviously a bikeway, until he struck and killed a bicyclist. Signals for the bikeway are on its left side -- there are three sets of signals here. The drunk driver, in the position of the white car in the photo, seeing signals directly in front of him may assumed that the bikeway was the roadway.
