Proposed design for Newton street and West Roxbury Parkway between Hammond Street and where they split. All the through traffic has been placed on a single roadway narrowed to 22 feet. The other roadway has been narrowed into a one-lane frontage road. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic is to be accommodated on a two-way path in parkland, which would be nice for recreation but unusable for transportation in winter even if plowed. It would be far from the residences on the south side, and so impractical for short-distance bicycle travel. The location is here in the presentation and at the cross-section line in the plans.
