Ramp merging to highway

Looking south at the exit of a turnout on the west side of the highway, just past the bicycle-prohibition sign in the previous photo. This section has a wide shoulder. If there were no prohibition, bicyclists who choose not to cross the entrance and exit ramps could ride the highway, and avoid crossing ramps by following the road through the turnout.
