MARY McGINN STEWART AND MRS. BURKE IN THE ALDERSIDE LIVING ROOM

In the high-resolution scan below:

On the wall visible past the left side of the mantle is a map of Algonquin National Park (which included only about 1/3 of the present Algonquin Provincial Park). This map was still there in the 1950s but has since disappeared -- probably lost in a burglary.

Various items on the mantle include a cloth hanging which is a serious fire hazard. But then, the place clearly didn't burn down, as it is still standing 90 years later!

Calendars to the right of the fireplace identify the date of the photograph, August, 1907. The larger calendar shows a man fishing in a waterfall, wearing hip waders, and reads:

Neat, Comfortable, Durable
Berlin Rubber Mfg. Co. Ltd. Berlin, Ont. Canada
