Bikeway start closeup
Closer view of chevrons. Also note planters and scaffolding which form a barrier between sidepath and sidewalk. Pedestrian encroachment onto the sidepath on Broadway is a serious problem; not nearly so much here. Scaffold frame partly channelizes pedestrians, as would an intentional fence. Keeping scaffolding in place longer than needed is a political issue in New York City, but here it works to bicyclists' advantage. Note thin white stripes defining bikeway, including curb-side shy distance, heavy buffer gore with flex posts (door area).
